shrimp tips

When you’re shopping for fresh shrimp at the grocery store, look for peeled and deveined shrimp. The deveining and peeling process is tedious, so this will save you time and frustration!

Can you use frozen shrimp? YES! But make sure it’s thawed before you make this recipe.

Can you use cooked shrimp? We don’t recommend using already cooked shrimp for this recipe.

How to Make Garlic Butter Shrimp

This garlic butter shrimp is so flavorful, and SO easy to make. Let’s get into it:

  1. Start by removing any access moisture from the shrimp, by placing the shrimp on a plate and patting with a paper towel or tea towel.
  2. Next, heat a large skillet over medium heat, and add butter once the skillet is hot.
  3. When the butter is melted, add garlic and let the garlic sauté for 1 minute.
  4. Place shrimp in the pan, but do not crowd the shrimp (two batches may be necessary depending on pan size) and sprinkle with salt. Pro tip: The shrimp should be in a single layer, allowing each shrimp to lay flat on the skillet. If your skillet doesn’t accommodate this, two batches will be necessary!
  5. Sauté the shrimp for 2-4 minutes on each side depending on how hot your stove top gets. The shrimp will turn a pinkish color as they cook!
  6. Remove shrimp from the pan and squeeze fresh lemon over the shrimp before serving.
