Teotihuacán reopens this February 24 under strict sanitary protocol

The Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico and the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) have reported that Teotihuacán will reopen to the public under strict health protocols.

Both institutions are developing specific actions for the orderly and safe return of visitors and workers, since Teotihuacán will reopen this February 24.

To publicize this event, they launched a press release that we share below with the details of the information.

The reopening will be carried out in collaboration with the Government of the State of Mexico, as an action that seeks to encourage the economic reactivation of the region without neglecting the health protocols established at the federal level.

There will only be access to the Calzada de los Muertos, squares and esplanades.

What you should take into account

• The Archaeological Zone of Teotihuacan will open in a visiting hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Only 3,000 people a day may have access (allowed capacity will be up to 30%)

The allowed capacity will be distributed according to the five access doors of the archaeological zone, which will close when the assigned tickets are finished:

• Gate 1 (700 tickets)
• Gate 2 (700 tickets)
• Gate 3 (350 tickets)
• Gate 4 (550 tickets, in this access service will be given to tour operators (buses)
• Gate 5 (700 tickets)

Conditions that I must meet as a traveler

• Wear a mask upon arrival at the site and throughout your tour (included at the ticket window)
• Allow their temperature to be taken
• Use antibacterial gel on access
• Keep a healthy distance at all times
• Don’t go drunk
• Do not carry backpacks or bulky packages
• Always take the children in your care with you

Ojo will be closed in this first stage of reopening the following:

Ascent to the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, and the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, the complexes of Quetzalpapálotl, Río San Juan (superimposed buildings and stucco heads) and the Palaces (Tetitla, Atetelco, Yayahuala, Zacuala and Tepantitla) will also be closed. ). Likewise, the museums of Teotihuacan Painting and Teotihuacan Culture will continue to be closed.

Toilets

The use of health services will be done by maintaining a healthy distance before entering, and people will be allowed to pass in a controlled and reduced way to avoid crowds.

Cleaning

At the end of the visiting day, the work spaces, restrooms and commercial areas will be sanitized (monuments cannot be sanitized, therefore they will not be open to the public) for the safe visit the next day.
